The Canine Parvovirus Antigen Rapid Test is designed for the qualitative detection of canine parvovirus (CPV) antigen in dog feces or vomit.

How the Test Works

The Canine Parvovirus Antigen Rapid Test uses a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay.

After the prepared sample is added to the test device, the liquid moves through the test strip.

A Control (C) line should appear to confirm that the test has run correctly.

If sufficient canine parvovirus antigen is present in the sample, a visible Test (T) line will also appear.

Test Procedure

Use the provided swab to collect a fecal sample from fresh stool or from the animal as directed by the test instructions.

Insert the swab into the assay buffer tube.

Rotate and move the swab through the buffer to thoroughly mix the sample.

Remove and discard the swab.

Replace the cap on the buffer tube and mix gently.

Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a flat surface.

Add 3 drops of prepared sample to the sample well marked “S,” or approximately 75 µL when using a mechanical pipette.

Wait approximately 10 minutes.

Interpret the Control (C) and Test (T) lines according to the supplied instructions.

Result Interpretation

Negative: The Control (C) line appears and no Test (T) line appears.

Positive: Both the Control (C) line and Test (T) line appear.

Invalid: No Control (C) line appears. Repeat the test using a new test device.

Any visible Test line should be interpreted according to the manufacturer instructions.

About Canine Parvovirus

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness, particularly in puppies and unvaccinated dogs.

Common signs may include:

• Vomiting

• Diarrhea

• Loss of appetite

• Weakness or lethargy

• Dehydration

• Fever or abnormal body temperature

Dogs showing signs consistent with parvovirus should receive prompt veterinary evaluation.
